Gothams Suffer 9-5 Setback
The Washington Eagles topped the New York Gothams by a score of 9-5. Leading the way was right fielder Joe Cantrell. Cantrell was 2-4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for the Eagles. Doc Lindley came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 9-9. Washington has a record of 68-73, placing them 5th in the Federal Association East.

The Eagles got a big hit from pinch hitter Virgil Belisle. In the bottom of the eighth, Belisle smacked a 2-run double off New York pitcher Charlie Todd Jr.. It was his 1st double of the season. Suddenly, the Eagles were ahead, 6-5.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Belisle said.
