Foresters Win at Home, 3-1 | The Cleveland Foresters beat the Cincinnati Cannons, 3-1, at Forester Stadium. Starting pitcher Adrian Czerwinski was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Czerwinski, now 11-8, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Cleveland raised its record to 68-53 with the win.
Earl Howe, who finished 2nd in the FA in runs with 120 in 1954, contributed to the Cleveland win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the center fielder had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Cincinnati skipper Buddy Baumgart, "and it cost us." | |
