The rain did not keep Houston and Detroit from finishing their game.

The Houston Comets knocked off the Detroit Dynamos, 9-4, at Thompson Field. John Edwards was a big reason Houston won. The right fielder was 4-6 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Spencer Reese, the winner, goes to 14-4. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts over 5 innings.

With Houston leading 4-3 in the top of the sixth, Edwards hit a sinker from George Carney for a run-scoring double. It was his 23rd double of the season and put the Comets ahead, 5-3.

"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Edwards.

The win gives Houston a season record of 75-62.
