| Stars Throttle Cannons, 5-1 | Los Angeles got a strong outing from Dewey Allcock as the Stars defeated the Cincinnati Cannons, 5-1, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Allcock got the win, improving to 10-7. He gave up 4 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. The win lifted the Los Angeles record to 65-53.
Los Angeles used a clutch at-bat from Lou Allen to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Stars ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Dewey is a tough competitor," said Los Angeles manager Charley McCullough.
