The Chicago Cougars downed the Kansas City Mavericks, 8-4, at Mavericks Stadium. Gene Homer led the way, going 3-for-5 for Chicago. Chicago now has a record of 72-65 with the win.

The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Homer hit a 2-run home run off Harry Kluth. It propelled the Cougars into the lead, 2-0.

"You start putting runs on the board and winning, everyone's going to get excited," said Homer.
