| Montreal 4-1 Losers to Imperials | Behind an impressive start by Howie Weston, New York beat Montreal, 4-1. Weston, now 9-5, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Mike Dunlavy closed it out for New York, earning his 2nd save.
The Saints had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Imperials going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old left fielder Pete O'Leary came to the plate. O'Leary hit a 2-run double on a full count changeup from Montreal hurler Jose Martinez. It was O'Leary's 12th double of the year.
"I just tried to make good contact," said O'Leary.
New York now has a record of 68-68 with the win. | |
