| Boston Earns 2-1 Win | The Boston Minutemen converted a terrific effort from starter Johnny Hall into a win over the New York Gothams at Gotham Stadium. The Minutemen won the game by a final score of 2-1. Boston reliever Richie Thornton picked up the win, upping his record to 6-11. Herb Isom was saddled with the loss. With the win, Boston has a record of 73-63. New York falls to 78-58.
Boston used the timely hitting of Dick Anderson to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Minutemen on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said Hall. | |
