| Millers Sneak Past Chiefs, 2-1 | In a low-scoring affair between the Minneapolis Millers and the Chicago Chiefs, pitcher Hank Wagner was the difference between victory and defeat. The Minneapolis right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Millers win. Ben Baird earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 14-12. The 4th-place Millers go to 61-74.
The Millers relied on pinch hitter Frank Hayes for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the ninth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"It was bedlam at the end," Wagner said. | |
