The Chicago Cougars defeated the Cincinnati Cannons, 7-5, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Leading the charge for Chicago was right fielder Andy Babel. He was 3-4 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Bob Goldman was the winner. Over 7.2 innings, he yielded 5 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Augie Hicks earned his 15th save, after closing out the game.

Chicago used the hitting of Charlie Sanders to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cougars on top, 7-4. For the game, Sanders had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
