| Sailors Fall to Cannons Late | Golden Gate Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the San Francisco Sailors and Cincinnati Cannons.
The Cincinnati Cannons converted a terrific effort from starter Herm Quinn into a win over the San Francisco Sailors at Golden Gate Stadium. The Cannons won the game by a final score of 3-1. Earl White earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 4-10.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Chief Williams to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cannons on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Quinn.
Cincinnati is now 68-65. San Francisco is 63-72. | |
