| Saints Rack Up 3-2 Win Versus Kansas City | The Montreal Saints picked up a win at Stade Montreal, knocking off the Kansas City Mavericks, 3-2. Starting pitcher Hal Bennett was a big reason why. Bennett got the win, improving to 16-6. He gave up 6 hits and walked 0 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Bill Richards collected save number 2.
Dixie Turner went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Montreal. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Turner, who led the FA in batting average with .343 in 1965, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Kansas City hurler John Moss, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Saints a 3-2 lead.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Turner told the Montreal Gazette.
The third-place Saints go to 67-67.
