| Pioneers Knock Off Minutemen, 2-0 | The St. Louis Pioneers locked up a win at Pioneer Field III, knocking off the Boston Minutemen, 2-0. On the mound for St. Louis was right-hander Tige Bowe. He played a major role in the triumph. The Pioneers, at 67-68, sit in third place in the Federal Association West.
The Pioneers got an important contribution from center fielder Len Green, who in the bottom of the fifth knocked a 2-0 curveball to center for a solo home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Pioneers ahead, 2-0.
Green said afterward that "winning is what it's all about." | |
