The Boston Minutemen had to overcome a fine effort from New York pitcher Red Blanchard to win, 6-5, at Minuteman Stadium. Blanchard went 7.1 innings and allowed 5 runs. Bob Hollister earned his 11th save, after closing out the game. The Minutemen raised their record to 51-83.

Boston went up, 6-5, on Frank McCarroll's 4th double of the season. The 2-run double, which McCarroll hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New York pitcher Jack White shaking his head.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," McCarroll said after the game.
