Kansas City turned a good performance from starting pitcher Dave Dalton into a 5-2 triumph over the New York Imperials at Dyckman Stadium. Kansas City now sits at 60-76, while New York falls to 70-64.

Kansas City used a timely hit from Johnny Kelley to get the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mavericks ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Dalton. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
