Copperheads Take Down Dynamos, 5-3
The Atlanta Copperheads picked up a win at Peachtree Stadium, taking down the Detroit Dynamos, 5-3, in 10 innings. On the mound for Atlanta was left-hander Howie Burt. He played a central role in the triumph. The win went to Bill Hunn in relief. His record improves to 9-3. Richard Elk took the loss. The Copperheads have an impressive 97-37 record.

The decisive blow was delivered by John Newton in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a 2-run home run off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Richard Elk to win the game for Atlanta. The home crowd went nuts.

"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Burt told the Atlanta Times.
