Houston left fielder Johnny Adams had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Adams was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, even as Atlanta beat the Comets, 7-3. Marco Middleton got credit for the win, improving to 15-10. He allowed 3 runs on 13 hits in 9 innings. The first-place Copperheads go to 82-50.

Atlanta took the lead, 7-3, on Jack Finley's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Houston pitcher Johnny Blackburn in the top of the eighth.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Finley told the Atlanta News.
