Pioneers Handed 9-2 Loss
Atlanta Copperheads starter Harry Inge pitched a strong game against the St. Louis Pioneers at Pioneer Field III, leading the Copperheads to victory, 9-2. Inge, who led the FA in saves with 30 in 1970, went the distance for Atlanta. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. Atlanta's record now stands at 81-50, placing them first in the Federal Association East.

Atlanta used the clutch hitting of John Moreland to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Copperheads the lead, 7-2. For the game, Moreland had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Moreland told the Atlanta News.
