| Pioneers Get Clutch Win Versus Atlanta | St. Louis right fielder Quinton Vincent played a vital role in his team's 5-4 conquest of Atlanta. He was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for St. Louis. Curly Anderson came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 7-8. St. Louis, at 65-66, holds down third place in the Federal Association West.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for St. Louis. That's when Milt Howard hit a run-scoring double off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Buddy Thomas to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"We took home the win," said Howard. "What's not to like?" | |
