Kings Knock Off Imperials at Seattle Municipal Stadium
Swede Hawkins, who is a two-time All-Star, had a strong outing for the Seattle Kings against the New York Imperials at Seattle Municipal Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. Billy Collins, who is a two-time All-Star, earned the save for Seattle. The 'W' lifts Seattle's record to 79-50.

Ben Baker had a big solo home run for the Kings in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Seattle leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from Danny Johnston, who finished 3rd in the FA in wins with 18 in 1971, and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Kings on top, 3-1.

"Swede had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Seattle manager Alex Watt.
