| Eagles Tuck Away 3-1 Win Over Chicago | The Washington Eagles got a magnificent effort from pitcher Eddie Yandow, who kept Chicago hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Eagles win at Columbia Stadium. The 5th-place Eagles have a record of 54-75.
Don Whited drew 1 walk for Washington. With no one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Whited had a clutch at-bat. Facing Chicago hurler Frank Carmichael, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Yandow after the game.
