| Clippers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Dynamos, 5-3 | The Baltimore Clippers beat the Detroit Dynamos, 5-3, at Patapsco Field. Baltimore catcher Hank Wallace, who is tied for 7th in the FA in doubles with 27, collected 2 singles and 1 double with 3 runs batted in. Davey Cronin got credit for the save for Baltimore. It was his 21st of the year. Today's win puts Baltimore at 59-70, while Detroit falls to 66-63.
Had Wallace not come through in the bottom of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Wallace hit a run-scoring single. The Clippers took the lead, 4-3, and never looked back.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Wallace told the Baltimore Observer. "You win just by scoring more runs."
