Sailors Collect 8-5 Win Over Wolves
Chick Reed did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to spare the Toronto Wolves an extra-inning, 8-5, loss to the San Francisco Sailors at Dominion Stadium. Reed was 6-6 with a home run and 5 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. San Francisco has won 4 consecutive games.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 26-year old catcher Larry McLaren. McLaren had a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Sailors ahead, 5-4. For the game, McLaren had 1 double and 2 singles in 6 at-bats.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," McLaren told the San Francisco Chronicle.
