| Chiefs Make Eagles 5-3 Losers | The Chicago Chiefs picked up a win at Columbia Stadium, topping the Washington Eagles, 5-3. On the mound for Chicago was right-hander Nate Carr. He played a principal role in the triumph. Carr got the win, improving to 12-10. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Their 68-63 record puts the Chiefs third in the Federal Association West.
Chicago third baseman Ricardo Castillo contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 151st hit of the season and put the Chiefs ahead, 4-1.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Castillo. | |
