| Eagles Sink Chiefs, 2-1 | The Washington Eagles converted a terrific effort from starter Herman White into a win over the Chicago Chiefs at Columbia Stadium. The Eagles won the game by a final score of 2-1. Don Maguire locked down his 5th save. The win makes Washington 62-68.
Tom Lorang drew 2 walks for Washington. With two out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Lorang, who is tied for 9th in the FA in total bases with 215, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Chicago hurler Joe Rice, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
"They were just a little bit better than us," Chicago manager Ollie Howard said.
