Road Win Lifts Philadelphia to 2-1 Lead in WCS | With right-hander Joe Kienle leading the charge, the Philadelphia Keystones got past the Cleveland Foresters, 5-4, in extra innings in Game 3 of the World Championship Series. Kienle threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball at Forester Stadium as Philadelphia managed to grab a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
The most important at-bat for Philadelphia came in the top of the 16th inning, when catcher Tom Cooprider stroked a 1-1 sinker to center for a run-scoring single, putting Philadelphia up, 5-4.
"By the skin of our teeth, man," Cooprider told the Philadelphia Today. "But hey, it still counts. A few more by the skin of our teeth is fine with me."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Forester Stadium in Cleveland. | |
