| Millers Beat Clippers, 4-2 | The Minneapolis Millers defeated the Baltimore Clippers, 4-2. First Baseman Clyde Allen deserved a large share of the credit. Allen hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Millers. Minneapolis pitcher Jack Turner earned the win, hiking his record to 8-10. Pat Fortier suffered the loss. Ike Hawley finished to wrap up his 5th save.
Allen had a timely hit for Minneapolis in the top of the sixth. With Minneapolis trailing 2-1, he turned a 2-0 sinker into a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season, making it 3-2, Minneapolis.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Minneapolis skipper Harry Hammond.
The 4th-place Millers hiked their record to 59-69. | |
