Pioneers Upend Eagles, 5-2 | The St. Louis Pioneers rode a solid performance from 28-year-old starting pitcher Billy Hasson to a win, beating the Washington Eagles, 5-2, at Columbia Stadium. Hasson got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Washington, with the loss, is still a robust 6-2.
Don Barker's at-bat in the top of the third inning was a big one for St. Louis. Coming to bat with one out, runners on 1st and 2nd and St. Louis trailing 1-0, the first baseman hit a run-scoring single.
