| Pioneers Suffer 7-1 Home Loss | Getting offensive support from Jerry Smith, the St. Louis Pioneers topped the Chicago Chiefs, 7-1. Smith was 1-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Pioneers. Billy Hasson earned the win to go to 4-0. He allowed 1 run on 10 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. The Pioneers, now 13-4, have been sizzling early on.
St. Louis took a 7-1 lead on Smith's 4th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Jack Halbur in the top of the seventh, propelled St. Louis to the win.
