| 5-2 Cannons Win over Mavericks Evens Season Record | Cincinnati got a strong outing from Herm Quinn as the Cannons defeated the Kansas City Mavericks, 5-2, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Quinn, the winner, moves to 5-1. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up no walks. Dutch Lane wrapped it up, recording his 4th save.
Cincinnati first baseman Mike Rocque contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 31st hit of the season and put the Cannons ahead, 5-2.
"Herm made his pitches," said Cincinnati manager Charlie Britton.
The Mavericks fall to 14-22.
