New York Tumbles Again, Falls, 2-1, to Cleveland | Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Cleveland Foresters and New York Imperials.
The Cleveland Foresters got a stellar effort from pitcher Ike Johnson, helping Cleveland score a win over the visiting New York Imperials, 2-1. Johnson, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 2 walks.
Paul Williams had a big solo home run for the Foresters in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Cleveland leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a splitter from Bob Brown, who is tied for 10th in the CA in quality starts with 5, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Foresters on top, 2-0.
"Ike is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Cleveland manager Jim Whitehead.
The third-place Foresters have won 4 consecutive games. | |
