The Pittsburgh Miners topped the Minneapolis Millers, 6-1, in Federal Association action at Hennepin County Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Pittsburgh pitcher Pat Simon. Simon, now 8-4, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The win gives Pittsburgh a season record of 42-37.

Pittsburgh used a well-timed hit by John Moreland to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Miners ahead, 5-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Simon.
