Rader Hits 2 home runs in Chiefs Win | The Chicago Chiefs stopped the Minneapolis Millers, 10-2, behind an impressive performance from Gene Rader. The 27-year old left fielder made life miserable for Minneapolis pitching. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Vern Osborne, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-2. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 2. Chicago, now 10-6, has played well in the early going.
With Chicago leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Rader hit a fastball from Joe McDowell for a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Chiefs ahead, 5-0.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Rader. | |
