| Gothams Rally Late to Nip Clippers | The New York Gothams dumped the Baltimore Clippers, 6-5, in large part due to center fielder Bill Arndt. On the day, Arndt was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Gothams. New York sits at 15-16 in the early going.
The Gothams were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when three-time All-Star Tom Brizzolara landed a big blow. He turned a full count fastball from Larry Warren into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Gotham Stadium denizens into a frenzy and sent the Gothams home with a thrilling 6-5 win.
"This place was electric at the end," Arndt said. | |
