The St. Louis Pioneers topped the Philadelphia Keystones, 7-6, at Pioneer Field III. St. Louis third baseman Steve Schultz was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. St. Louis starter Billy Hasson was credited with the win after throwing 145 pitches over 9 innings. His record now stands at 6-0. The Pioneers, now 27-6, have won 13 in a row.

Schultz contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for St. Louis in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Schultz took a cutter from Joe Potts and stroked the home run to left-center. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Pioneers to leap in front, 2-1.
