Cougars Win, 5-1, Over Cleveland
The Chicago Cougars got a strong performance from pitcher Roger Alford, who stymied the Cleveland offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Forester Stadium. The third-place Cougars have won 4 consecutive games.

The Cougars benefited from a costly error in the top of the eighth. With Andy Babel at bat and Chicago leading 2-1, the Cleveland miscue allowed Chicago to plate 1 and take the lead, 3-1.

"We have a lot of confidence in Roger," said Chicago manager Pug Bryan.
