| Pioneers Knock Off Dynamos, 5-1 | A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the St. Louis Pioneers and Detroit Dynamos.
St. Louis Pioneers starter Tige Bowe turned in an exceptional performance against the Detroit Dynamos at Pioneer Field III, resulting in a St. Louis win, 5-1. In 6 innings, Bowe surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from second baseman Frank Green. For the game, Green went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave St. Louis a 2-0 lead.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Green. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
The Dynamos fall to 12-18 and continue their sputtering start to the 1974 season.
