Baltimore beat Washington at Columbia Stadium, eking out a 6-5 win. The triumph was primarily due to third baseman Amos Johnson. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Buck Guthrie, the winner, goes to 2-0. He allowed 5 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts over 8.1 innings.
Johnson got the Clippers off to a quick start. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single.
