The home crowd had a good time watching the Pittsburgh Miners and Washington Eagles get after it.

Getting a good performance from first baseman Joe Holland, the Washington Eagles defeated the Pittsburgh Miners, 8-6. Holland belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Eagles. Walt Staton was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.

Jack Thompson's at-bat in the bottom of the seventh inning was a big one for Washington. Coming to bat with no one out, the bases loaded and Washington trailing 6-4, the pinch hitter hit a 2-run single.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Pittsburgh manager Harry Barrell. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."

At 36-37, the Eagles claim 5th place in the Federal Association.
