Miners Earn Late 3-2 Win | The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.
The Pittsburgh Miners, despite a fine performance by Washington pitcher Owen Lantz, grabbed a 3-2 win at Columbia Stadium. Lantz allowed 1 run over 7 innings. Hank Cook claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. His record stands at 3-4.
Roy McGee, who is tied for 5th in the FA in stolen bases with 6, had a direct impact on the outcome. McGee contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 3-1.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said McGee. "And not try to do too much."
With the win, Pittsburgh pushed its record to 39-33. | |
