| Morton Lifts Minutemen to 7-2 Triumph | The home crowd had a good time watching the Detroit Dynamos and Boston Minutemen get after it.
The timely hitting of Jim Morton helped the Boston Minutemen down the Detroit Dynamos, 7-2. Morton was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Minutemen. Bob Scott, the winner, goes to 1-3. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts over 9 innings.
The Minutemen got a big at-bat from catcher Ed Cole. For the game, Cole went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Boston a 3-1 lead.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Morton told the Boston Bulletin.
The Minutemen, now 9-17, have not found much traction so far in 1975. | |
