At Whitney Park, the Chicago Chiefs and Houston Comets were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Houston Comets picked up a win at Whitney Park, dropping the Chicago Chiefs, 7-1. George Roy, who finished 4th in the FA in innings pitched with 262.2 last year, was the difference-maker. The winner was Roy. He threw 7.0 innings of 1-hit ball. The loser was Ed Rowley.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bill Blair? The Houston shortstop had a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Comets on top, 2-1. For the game, Blair had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Houston manager Glenn Carney. "That's what George is right now."

With the win, Houston improves its record to 18-11.
