| Gothams Get 6-1 Win Versus Atlanta | The New York Gothams satisfied the home crowd at Gotham Stadium, treating them to a season-opening win, 6-1, over the Atlanta Copperheads. Starting Pitcher Joe Nelson was the standout performer for New York. Nelson got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run.
New York shortstop Sam Hamilton contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a splitter to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 2nd hit of the season and put the Gothams ahead, 3-1.
"Joe kept them off-balance, threw a great game for us," said Gothams manager Charlie Foley.
