| Millers Win, 4-2, Versus Houston | Houston got a big-time effort from pitcher Jay Hunt, but it wasn't enough to keep the Minneapolis Millers from winning the game, 4-2. Hunt threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The win went to Del Robinson in relief, making him now 1-0. Bob Young took the loss for Houston. Ben Baird earned the save for Minneapolis, his 2nd.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Steve Hoffer? The 25-year old left fielder Hoffer stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Minneapolis up, 3-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
Said Minneapolis manager Bill Bryan: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
The win puts Minneapolis at 5-2.
