Madden Spins 1-0 Shutout Against Minneapolis | "Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Steve Madden of the St. Louis Pioneers proved the point at Pioneer Field III, holding the Minneapolis Millers to 8 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Madden made us look real bad today," Millers manager Frank Vance said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Madden had 4 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk as the Pioneers took the 1-0 win.
