| Foresters Suffer 2-1 Loss to New York | The New York Imperials got a magnificent effort from pitcher Jim White, who kept Cleveland hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Imperials win at Dyckman Stadium. White, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 4 walks. New York has a mark of 3-2 after the win.
Phil Terry, who finished 3rd in the CA in slugging percentage with .459 in 1968, helped out the New York cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the right fielder drove in one run.
"Nice win for us," said Terry. "Now we'll go after the next one." | |
