| Cincinnati Beats Cleveland, 7-1 | The Cincinnati Cannons got a stellar effort from pitcher Herm Quinn, helping Cincinnati score a win over the visiting Cleveland Foresters, 7-1. Quinn got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 7 hits and walked 4 over 9 innings. He allowed 1 run. The Cannons, now 4-1, have stormed out of the gates.
Billy West, who finished 3rd in the CA in batting average with .313 in 1971, took Cleveland hurler Leroy Williams deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Cannons on top, 2-0. In all, West had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
