Draper Excels, But Keystones Win
The skies opened up and the rain fell at Fitzpatrick Park.

Chuck Draper did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Pittsburgh Miners from being beaten, 10-7, to the Philadelphia Keystones at Fitzpatrick Park. Draper was 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Don McKeown picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-1 on the season. He struck out 2 and walked 4 in 5 innings, while yielding 5 runs.

Philadelphia used a well-timed hit by Al Coulter to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Keystones ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Coulter.

The Miners, now 2-10, continue their poor start.
