| Chicago Absorbs 5-2 Loss to New York | The New York Gothams racked up a win at Bigsby Oval II, bumping off the Chicago Chiefs, 5-2. Mike Goodwin, who started for New York, pitched effectively for his team. Goodwin picked up the win for New York, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 9 hits. He now sports a record of 1-4. Getting the save was Fred Turk, his 2nd.
Billy Collins had a big 2-run double for the Gothams in the bottom of the sixth inning. With New York leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from Benny Crowell, who finished 4th in the FL in saves with 6 in 1909, and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gothams ahead, 4-1.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Collins.
New York now sits at 34-24, while Chicago falls to 35-25.
