| Gothams Turn Away Eagles, 6-4 | Starting pitcher Bunny Mullins pitched well enough to help the New York Gothams beat the Washington Eagles, 6-4. Mullins, who finished 2nd in the FA in strikeouts with 242 in 1967, went the distance for New York. He gave up 4 runs on 9 hits. The Gothams raised their record to 4-2.
The Gothams got a big at-bat from left fielder Ed Davis. For the game, Davis went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 2nd double of the season gave New York a 3-1 lead.
New York manager Charlie Foley was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
