| McCarthy Now 1-0 After Beating Suns | The 1974 season is off to a good start for the Houston Comets. The hometown Comets knocked off the Los Angeles Suns, 3-2, at Dalton Domed Stadium. Houston pitcher Joe McCarthy paced his team to the win. Bob Young closed the door for Houston, picking up his 1st save of the year.
McCarthy, the Houston right-hander, went 8.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 1 hit. He collected 6 strikeouts.
"That was a really good outing by Joe," said Houston manager Glenn Carney.
