| Townsend Shuts Out Cleveland, 4-0 | Elmer Townsend was in a zone of his own most of the day, shutting out the Cleveland Foresters on 3 hits.
"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled Cleveland manager Ned Wiggins after the 4-0 loss to the Cincinnati Monarchs.
Townsend finished with 2 strikeouts and 4 walks in a strong outing.
In the postgame press conference, Cincinnati manager Dennis Sandhoff said Townsend "had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. He just pitched his butt off."
