Detroit left-hander Joe Jones pitched his team to victory over the Chicago Chiefs at Whitney Park. The final score was 4-2. Rip Kimball was credited with the save for Detroit, his 1st of the season. Chicago, with the loss, is still a hardy 5-2.

Jones had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth to put Detroit in front, 3-1. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run off Chicago pitcher Troy Myers.

After the game, Detroit manager Roger Cleaves applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
