Millers Wiggle Past New York, 5-4 | The Minneapolis Millers outlasted the New York Gothams in an extra-inning thriller.
Minneapolis beat New York at Gotham Stadium, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to catcher Don Coe. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Picking up his 2nd save was 26-year old left-handed pitcher Dan Charlton.
Coe had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-0 curveball from Chris Sargent, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Millers a 5-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Coe.
In postgame comments, Coe said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
Minneapolis, now 8-4, has gotten their season off to a good start. | |
