Glenn Johnson notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Jim Hodges was credited with the save for Washington, his 1st of the season.
Washington right fielder Ed MacNaughton helped the Eagles go up, 4-2, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, MacNaughton hit a 2-run single off New York pitcher Joe Nelson.
In postgame remarks, MacNaughton hailed his team's "mettle."
