| Stars Clip Gothams, 6-5, in WCS Contest | The New York Stars went the distance and then some at Riverside Stadium II to drag themselves back into a tie with the New York Gothams.
It took 10 innings to settle Game 6 of the World's Championship Series, but New York eventually took a walk-off, 6-5 win behind the efforts of pitcher Harry Powell. Powell threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball to aid the New York cause. The clubs are now tied 3-3 in their best-of-7 series.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the tenth, an error by the Gothams allowed the Stars to score the winning run.
"It has been an incredible experience today," Powell said in the clubhouse following the game. "It's a short list of people who have started in the World's Championship Series at all, and an even shorter list who have done a good job of it."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Riverside Stadium II in New York.
